Biometric security measure - they are security systems that allow access by human body identification.
 

Cable modem- a cable modem is a modem that supplies internet access through the local TV service


Client - a client is a computer controlled by another host computer through its server. 

Client-server network-  a client server network is when a host computer controls multiple computers using the server.


Communication channel - a communication channel is a wire where information is transported from the sender to its receiver. 


Digital subscriber line - DSL is a internet connection using your phone line. It is fast and has no interference.


Extranet- an extra net is the exact of an intranet. It allows certain amounts of information to be seen by the public. 


Firewall - a firewall is a part of a computer or network designed to keep unauthorized people out. 



Hacker - a hacker Is a person who breaks or bypasses computers or computer networks. 


Hub - a hub is a small device used to connect multiple computers


Internet - the internet is a worldwide computer network system that is at service with billions of people. 

Intranet - intranet is a system that allows information to be seen by only certain people. 


Local area connection - LAN  is a computer network for a small area , allows communication between computers. 



Modem - a modem is a device that allows a computer to transport data from one place to other modems exactly how it was sent out. 

Node - a node is any device that’s a connection point such as a computer or printer. 

Peer to peer network - it is similar to a client server network. The only difference is it Is mainly used for small amounts of computers and the user of each computer is in full control. 


Proxy server - a proxy server works with a client application like a web browser to see if it can handle the request. If not it goes to the server it self. 

Public switched telephone network - is all the voice based telephone networks. 


Router - a router is a device that transports information packets to networks. 

Server - a server is a program or device  that works with the browser and the html addresses to access web pages.


Server operating system - a server operating server is software created to be a base of multi user programs. 

T1 line - a t1 line is a special type of telephone line made of copper that can hold more data than a regular phone line. 


Wide area network - it is a computer network covering a large area



Wimax - it is microwaves that send off data for mobile internet access



Wireless internet service providers : they are internet service providers that allow for wireless access


Wireless LAN - will connect multiple devices wirelessly  allowing more mobility and a portable , wider range of internet coverage.
